City’s top crime suspects arrested
as DCPS posts 92% crime solution rate
The city’s number one and number three most wanted persons were finally arrested after three years of manhunt operation by the joint operatives of the Dagupan Police Station and NBI Dagupan. The top wanted murder suspects were Rodel “itiw de Guzman and Roel Fernandez.
The arrest of the two suspects is part of the improved crime solution efficiency of the Dagupan City Police Station that posted 91.66% efficiency rate compared to last year’s 78.08%, marking a 13.58% increased in the solution of crimes for the period covering January 1 to April 30,
Police Chief Edgar Basbas said that there was a decreased in the incidents of crime that happened during the first quarter of the year after the city police started to intensify their action in their anti-crime strategies and crime prevention efforts.
“Dagupan City is generally peaceful and the crime situation is very much manageable,” said Basbas during his peace and order situation briefing before the city’s Peace and Order Council on May 16 at the Mayor’s Conference Room.
He added that the city remains to be jueteng free.
Police records registered a 12 percent drop in non-index crimes such as illegal gambling, illegal possession of firearms, illegal detention, smuggling, carnapping, illegal drugs, kidnapping, violation of city ordinance, etc. Robbery, an index crime most prevalent in the city, has also decreased by 46% percent.
To further strengthen the stations anti-crime vigilance, the police beat patrol system was extended from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. covering nine sectors as their areas of responsibility. (CIO/Leziel T. Cayabyab)
