Chief Insp. Armando Fernandez is the fire marshal of the Dagupan City Fire Station (DCFS) succeeding C/Insp. Manuel Manuel effective April 28, 2006.
Manuel is now designated as the regional chief logistics officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Fernandez, who hailed from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, held various positions prior to his designation as Dagupan’s fire marshal.
He was the former provincial fire marshal of La Union from 2004 to April 2006 and was the concurrent regional chief administrator and the provincial chief operations officer of the BFP.
Fernandez said that the DCFS is currently focusing on the massive information dissemination on fire prevention.
“We are conducting regular building inspections to check if the owners are complying with the law,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez said that the regular inspection will be strengthened by the creation of DCFS company inspection teams, with respective beat assignments, which will be going around the city starting next week.
He further said that the DCFS conducts a regular troop information and education among the agency’s personnel every Monday, while fire drills at certain universities also continue.
Fernandez was also assigned in various places in the country namely Cordillera, Region 10, Region 2 and Region 4 in various capacities such as disbursement officer and inspectorate general. (Sunshine D. Robles)
